For SME’s … Why a blog? … 7 reasons

A blog works well as part of an content marketing strategy (inbound marketing).  Why?

  1.  A blog will help when people do a search engine search.  It has a two prong approach – first with using key words in your posts and secondly with regular updates.  If people search using key words your web site will come up higher in the search list if the key words are used in your blog.  A web site is a fairly static site with a map, prices etc etc whereas with a blog you are constantly working on your web site.  Activity on a web site will push it up higher on a search engine search.
  2. A blog gives you another avenue of interaction with your market.  Be it answering questions, solving problems or giving advise.  It is an additional channel of communication.
  3. It will humanize your product or service.  It will add a dimension to your service / product and encourage viewers to spend more time on your web site.  You can show viewers your values, views and personality.  It will be totally unique in your industry.
  4. Your blog can be pure self promotion.
  5. Responses to your blog will add contacts to your database of contacts.
  6. It will lead to networking opportunities within your industry.  Links will be shared between influencers in the same industry.
