Amidst the rolling hills and rugged terrain
trails await, a true hikers dream;
The Umgeni Reserve is a wilderness retreat
a true feast for the feet;
With trail snacks, backpacks and boots laced tight
us three ventured forth into the light;
As the sun beat down we head up and down hill;
what a total and compete thrill;
The trail leads on with twists and turns
the birds sing sweetly and the water churns;
We savour the peace and solitude
in this haven of nature complementing our perfect mood;
The hike is done but the memories stay
of this fabulous, fun and fine day ….
