Fun and games with Frederico and Francesco Frizzle …

An impromptu buy and Frederico and Francesco Frizzle find themselves at Whyteleaf Cottage with a proud pinkfarmchick mother …

Frizzles are type of bird feathers, and in this case chicken feathers. The feathers have been genetically programmed to grow and curl away from the body of the chicken. But it is not only this curly Diva look that makes Frizzle chickens (or in F and F’s case – bantam chickens) different to the general farmyard chicken (in our case Larry and his Laydeez). They are generally more docile, sweet and friendly.

So this being the case I was excited to bring F and F home and settle them into our backyard farmyard (BF). They would fit right in with Gatting (our bulldog) and our free-range bunnies. I did not count on Larry and his territorial tendencies and his “bad bad Leeroy Brown” attitude …

It has only been three days so far, but we have tried various accommodations and “cell mates”, trying to find a suitable place for them to get settled until they are released to explore the BF. In the one henhouse they interrupt a hen laying her clutch, in the other henhouse they get “henpecked” by Larry and in the third and last henhouse they get totally outnumbered by the young teenagers who are almost ready to be released into the BF and they spend their day cowering in the corner.

As soon as F and F get settled I will post pictures.

At this rate I will have to set a schedule for “yard” time. I really hope they settle in.
